ProPublica Database Update on Physicians’ Prescribing Habits

Pinterest Google+

ProPublica recently updated its Prescriber Checkup: The Doctors and Drugs in Medicare Part D, a searchable database that details the prescribing habits of hundreds of thousands of doctors across the country.

The information included for each physician is extensive. Anyone searching can see a physician’s location, specialty, amount of prescribed Part D medications that were filled, the total dollar amount of all filled prescriptions and the breakdown of each medication prescribed.

To see more of the story on PNN including how physicians use the database vs. the unintended use of the site by patients looking for opioid prescriptions, click here.
