Member Spotlight: Sachin Jha, MD, MS
Member Spotlight: This week we’d like to recognize Dr. Sunny Jha as he finishes his fellowship at UCLA. Thank you Dr. Jha for traveling up to Sacramento this week and being part of Legislative Advocacy Day. It was a great day and we’re so pleased to have our residents, students and fellows represented as part of our delegation. Prior to coming to Los Angeles for his fellowship, Dr. Jha was involved with the AMA as a House of Delegates representative advocating on a number of issues including opioid and tobacco use, obesity, Zika virus and trans fats. We’re lucky to have Dr. Jha on our team!

I am currently a Fellow in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine at UCLA where I will be finishing in June. I did my residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
I chose medicine in order to impact lives both on a macro and micro level. Working with patients on an individual basis allows me to profoundly impact their life, especially when they are about to receive anesthesia for surgery.
I have been involved with organized medicine since day one of medical school. Working with patients on a one-to-one basis is a truly rewarding experience; however, it does not afford the ability to effect change and enhance the very systems that can improve patient care on a large scale level. Organized medicine allows me to author policies, create essential connections and learn valuable leadership skills that I can then use to improve the health system and patient outcomes. LACMA has been fundamental in this regard, providing me with an avenue to preserve our profession and protect our patients.
